Some of the details are fuzzy, but I remembered a lot of my dream(/nightmare?!?!).

I lived in a community that was on the coast and there was a sort of urban legend about this water monster that killed people that swam in a certain area of choppy water. The only way to even possibly escape it was for someone else to make noises in the water to distract it. The monster would then chase that person, so it was a sticky situation.

One of my friends came over to my house and was talking about how he was just swimming in the monster area of the ocean. We were very concerned, because apparently he didn’t know about the monster. Apparently, there was something fishy about this monster, and we started to investigate. After a while, we started to figure out that the “monster” was really our evil neighbor. He was the one killing all of the people! So, as a group, my friends/family and I sat in our living room and discussed it quietly (we were scared that he was on to us and he was listening to our conversation outside). We made a plan to catch him.

We went to the “scary” part of the ocean and tricked him into going into this cave thing (that turned out to be a multi-level warehouse thing). At first, he was really scary. He had a knife and he cut my arm. We started running from him. We ran through holes in the ground and holes in the walls. We were faster than him, but not too much faster.

We finally start to lose him, and he cuts his hand on something. We see an elevator shaft and we jump in it, holding onto a cable to steady our balance. Since his hand was cut, he couldn’t hold onto the cable, so he was stuck above us (I’m not sure why this worked out haha). We get out of the warehouse and I start to go through the warehouse again to wait for the police. I get into the first room/level of the warehouse and some of my friends are there. I ask them, “Where are the police? Are they not here yet? Did you even call them?” They look and me and say no, and then I start to worry.

And then I woke up.

What does it mean?!

To dream that you are chased or followed by a monster, represents aspects of yourself that you find repulsive and ugly. You may possess some fears or some repressed emotions…

To see water in your dream, symbolizes your unconscious and your emotional state of mind. Water is the living essence of the psyche and the flow of life energy. It is also symbolic of spirituality, knowledge, healing and refreshment. If the water is calm, clear, then it signifies that you are in tune with your spirituality. It denotes serenity, peace of mind, and rejuvenation. If you are splashed by water, then it represents your need to be revitalized and more expressive. To dream that water is boiling, suggests that you are expressing some emotional turmoil. It also may mean that feelings from your unconscious are surfacing and ready to be acknowledged. You need to let out some steam…

To dream that you are setting a trap, indicates that you are trying desperately to hold onto a relationship, old habits or ways…

“I’m Being Chased”
Chase dreams often stem from feelings of anxiety in your walking life. The way we respond to anxiety and pressure in real life is typically manifested as a chase dream. Running is an instinctive response to physical threats in our environment. Often in these dream scenarios, you are being pursued by some attacker, who wants to hurt or possibly kill you. You are running away, hiding, or trying to outwit your pursuer. Chase dreams may represent your way of coping with fears, stress or various situations in your waking life. Instead of confronting the situation, you are running away and avoiding it. Ask yourself who is the one chasing you and you may gain some understanding and insight on the source of your fears and pressure.

The pursuer or attacker who is chasing you in your dream may also represent a part of yourself. Your own feelings of anger, jealousy, fear, and possibly love, can assume the appearance of threatening figure. You may be projecting these feelings onto the unknown chaser. Next time you have a chase dream, turn around and confront your pursuer. Ask them why they are chasing you.

One may be consumed by their own anger, jealousy, love, or self-destructive behavior. For example, you may be drinking too much or exhibiting open hostility toward others around you. You may subconsciously be threatened by these actions which have been jeopardizing your relationships and/or career. Your dreams are a way of calling attention to these self-destructive actions.

A more direct analysis of chase dreams is the fear of being attacked. Such dreams are more common among women than men, who may feel physically vulnerable in the urban environment. These dreams are inspired by fears of violence and sexual assault in which we are so over-exposed from the media. The violence that the media portrays magnifies our fears and how at risk we all are.

To dream of a conspiracy, suggests that you are deceiving others or being deceived by someone. Consider the people who are involved. These people may represent aspects of yourself and thus imply that you are lying to yourself.

I’m being deceived by someone, I’m being “chased” by something ugly in my life (that I might be trying to hold on to?), and I’m scared of violence…. These dreams are packed!
