I had another weird dream last night. I only remember one part really well….
I was at work, and I had a long list of words on computer paper. They were all in alphabetical order and highlighted in orange. One of my co-workers tells me that we are going to have a company-wide spelling bee, and that the paper was the word list. Upon reading the list, I saw the word “cherry” and “father of mine” as a word on the list. I immediately thought that cherry was FAR too easy and “father of mine” was not a word, but a song!

According to this, there is a lot of meaning to my dream.

Last night I had a weird dream. The part that I remember starts with me walking home from school in the country. I’m walking along a dirt road when I suddenly spot a mountain lion about 50 yards in front of me. It’s not facing me, so I start slowly walking the opposite way so I don’t catch it’s attention. I keep looking back to make sure that it hasn’t seen me. I thought about climbing the fence and walking through the field, but I figured that it could jump the fence easily if it heard me. Once I was far enough away, I started to run…. but that caught it’s attention! I stopped running, tried to make myself seem as big as possible (idk… I guess that might work? haha) and I made loud sounds. That.did.not.work. I was totally being stalked by a mountain lion. The stupid thing even PASSED a deer on its way to chase me and didn’t even blink. At this point, dream-me is starting to get freaked out a bit (understatement).

Suddenly, a truck pulling a long horse trailor pulls onto the road and I flag them down. In the truck, there are two women and a baby. They let me in the truck, and I escape the mountain lion. In the truck, I tell them that I had just moved to the area and I tried to explain to them where I moved from… they were a bit clueless, but they saved me nonetheless!

…Then I woke up. Being curious about my dream, I did some research on dream interpretation (all in blue) and came up with this: Continue reading

crazy cat ladies

For Christmas, I got my step-mom this little sculpture kit:

Some might think that it was a strange gift, but those who know my family beg to differ. We have a lot of cats…

In the house: Jet, Frankenstein, Sindoi, Sushi

At work: John’s cat, the “other one”, about 5 other random cats

There is a lady that lives behind my dad/step-mom’s office that has a bajillion cats. She doesn’t take care of them at all, so they find their way to the office where they can get food/water/attention. So… we’ve unofficially adopted all of these runaway cats.

That, my friends, is why that sculpture is so funny. She loved the present and thought that it was hilarious!

Background:

Instead of exchanging gifts with my extended family, we decided to sponsor a family this year. The family consists of three little boys (2, 6, and 11 I think) and their mom, and they were the victims of domestic abuse. The boys are so cute and they are really sweet! The youngest boy was BY FAR the funniest. Being so young, he didn’t have any reasons not to say the first thing that came to his mind. This is where these two stories come into play.

Story 1:

My neighbor (the boys’ second cousin) let the boys and their mom live with her while they found a place to stay. One day, she was wrapping the little one up in a towel after his bath and talking to him. She said things along the lines of “you are such a good baby! I love you, your brothers love you, your mommy loves you. Who do you love?” Without any hesitation, he replies with, “I love my dingy!” My neighbor’s 13 year-old daughter hears this and yells “is that ALL they ever think about?!”

Story 2:

My mom had offered to babysit the same little boy while his family moved into their new house. My mom’s younger sister stopped by while he was at my house. She was in charge of the gift-buying for him, so my mom told him that my aunt would be seeing Santa later and asked him what he wanted for Christmas. He told her what he wanted and then my mom began to tell my aunt that he “lovessss to take a bath!” At the sound of the word “bath,” he quickly perks up. “I want to take a bath!” He ruuuunns up the stairs and starts to get undressed. My mom tells my aunt goodbye and goes up to help him. He takes his shirt off and then starts to pull his pants down (while still wearing his shoes). The doorbell rings, and it’s my aunt (she had forgotten something). My mom asks her if she can help the little one while she checked the oven. My aunt goes upstairs and says, “you need to take off your shoes and socks before you can take your pants off!” He looks at her and says…“ya see my dingy?!”

My first blog, wow. I decided to start blogging today after becoming addicted to the art (thanks Kelly-Ann!). We’ll see how all of this works out, but I’m optimistic.
